Copenhagen Angel “Spit”
Spit is our herd matriarch and runs a tight ship. She is beautiful, bold, and ridiculously self confident. Spit is as unflappable as they come, with absolutely zero spook- if she hears a ‘scary’ noise she is likely to trot towards it to check it out.
Spit is by Hanoverian stallion Glorioso Noir, out of a registered Quarter Horse mare, Joe’s Classy Cruiser. The cross may be unconventional, but it was a well planned breeding we couldn’t be happier with. Glorioso Noir is well known for consistently stamping his correct and elegant legs and neck onto his offspring and had already been bred to appendix mares with great success. Spit’s dam, Chassy (Joe’s Classy Cruiser), is a beautiful eye catching ranch type mare with a phenomenal character and presence who consistently produced foals that were practically born broke to ride. At 21years old, Chassy is being used as a therapeutic riding horse- a job she could have easily been trusted with as a three year old. Chassy was sharp for an experienced rider yet as safe as sitting on a sofa for a beginner. Chassy is your quintessential ‘bomb proof’ easy keeper quarter horse, and has obviously passed down that trait. Despite being typically hard to motivate, Chassy would light up for cow work when under a rider that could handle that exuberance. On one of those occasions, when asked to trot out of the roping box, she displayed a grand passage with a beautifully lifted round topline that one would never expect from a fat little roping horse!
Sire, Glorioso Noir, contains the highly esteemed, and unfortunately rare, G line on both top and bottom of his pedigree. The G line is known for their incredible scope and ability over fences, and power of movement in the dressage arena. A truly versatile line, G line horses are mostly known for their incredible rideability and character. During his stallion licensing in Germany, Glorioso placed equally well in jumping and dressage. Among the highlights of his scores were an 8.0 on character, temperament and willingness to work and constitution. He also received an 8.0 on jumping ability and an 8.0 on his trot. Glorioso was the 2007 Champion working hunter for the American Hanoverian Society. His sire, Glorieux, won the Bundeschampionat and was the winner of his stallion licensing. Glorieux is by the immortal Goldstern. Glorioso's damsire is the legendary Grundstein I. His dam, Grosse Liebe is the mother of three other licensed sons. Her dam, Luna, produced 7 licensed stallions. Glorioso’s foals have had successful careers many disciplines with regional and national championships. He is truly a stallion that produces offspring for all disciplines- jumpers, dressage, hunters and eventers.
Spit's Dam: Chassy
Spit's Sire: Glorioso
Spit is the perfect mix of her unique parents. Her movement is cadenced and light, and her character is second to none. She was practically born on the bit, is easy to sit, and easy to live with. She is fairly short (15.3) but full bodied and powerful. One rather unfortunate trait that she inherited from both sides is that the whole lot of them were terribly late bloomers. If anything like their mamma, Spit’s offspring are guaranteed to be hideous at one and two years old, and still not right looking at three and maybe even four years old. Six years is when the magic happens! Be patient.
Spit had an amazing filly by Rendezvous ESH in 2017- Remuda, with a floaty trot and a natural well organized canter and flying change. Spit is bred back to Rendezvous for a 2018 foal.
