Rudy Horsemanship a Hit at the MD and PA Horse World Expos
Busy busy busy! We had a Mustang Parade of Breeds, Quater Horse Parade of Breeds, a Rudy Horsemanship Performance, and a round pen demo or seminar every day of both four day expos. Rave wasn't too fond of the echos in the Equine Arena but still did great. Our Rudy Horsemanship demo on Friday of the PA Expo was by far the best- everything just went like clockwork and both horses were calm and confidnet!
Davin signed up for Craig Cameron's Extreme Cowboy Race on Chassy, but she got sore during the expo, so instead he used a clients horse that he had only ridden once before. They still did great and placed seventh!
Please go to Horse World Expo Feedback and let the Horse World Expo organizers know you liked our performances and demonstrations.

Davin wins 9th overall in the Extreme Mustang Makeover
On July 17, 2009 Davin picked up a wild mustang. He had 100 days to gentle and train the horse before competing against other top trainers in Murfreesboro TN on Oct 23-25. He took 2nd place in the in-hand round and 9th place in the ridden horse course, qualifying him for the finals- a four minute freestyle. Unfortunately, his horse, Soldier, was very sore so Davin took it easy on him and left out required manuvers that may have injured the weary horse further. Go to our articles page and read "Soldier's Purple Heart" for the whole story.

Danee And Davin perform with their mustangs at THE Pennsylvania National Horse Show
This is one of the biggest most prestigious hunter/jumper shows in the nation! In October Danee performed with Rave (including a little bit of liberty) and Davin performed with his Mustang Makeover horse, Soldier, which only had about 85 days training! The goal was to have fun, and entertain the crowd, while showcasing the trainablity of the mustang.

Danee and Rave will perform with The Equus Projects at a Wine and Food Festival How exciting. We only have ONE practice session before the performance so most of it will be improvization. The festival is Sept 12 and 13 in Rhinebeck, NY. Tickets are surprisingly reasonable. I'm too lazy too include the link, but search for "Wine and Food Festival" and the town and you'll find it. It is being sponsored by Gourmet Magazine.

Rider Body Awareness DVD is FINISHED This DVD covers the specific motions of the pelvis, torso alignment, and weight aids in great detail. While bridle-less riding is not specifically covered, the DVD showa how to use your body to get great transitions and bend without use of reins. The exercises are very simple individually, but quite complex as you string them together at your own pace, so begginers and advanced riders should all have somthing to gain. We are not sure how long it will take to get the webshop up and running, but the DVD cost is $22.00 and we can do phone orders within the US.

WOW! What an incredible four days. I gave a seminar on Rider Biomechanics on Friday and the seminar hall was packed! (Most seminars are lucky if ten people are there, so the turn out was truly incredible.) I had volunteers help me demonstrate why we should align our hips and shoulders a certain way to bend our horse, how to isolate the muscles needed for a perfect canter depart, and an extra big thanks to the adorable little girl who hopped up on my saddle stand and helped me demonstrate the correct seat for downward transitions. The audience was engaged and many of them met me at my booth afterwards.
Mine was the first demonstration on Saturday morning so I was less than optimistic about how many people would be there, but the was a good crowd waiting for me and within ten minutes of teaching it was standing room only! The experienced clinicians often had less of a crowd. The microphone was huge and kept falling off my head (I think my hair was to blame- I asked Suzanne Sheppard about it adn she says she weres a hat to hold the mic...so now I know :-) Other then the technical difficulties (which was tremendously distracting!) the rest of the demo went great. Lucy, the phenominal young warmblood mare I used, was excellent and acted like she was an old pro. The audience grew throughout the demo and no one left once they came. I demonstrated how the pelvis moves with the horse, the timing of the aids, and how to use our torso to give aids for transitions and bending. When the demo was over, my husband took my horse so I could answer questions, and I found my self in a sea of people! There were already customers at our booth buying our new DVD, and many many people came by to ask questions or to jump up on the saddle stand we kept at our both so I could help them isolate the muscles that ask a horse to halt. By the end of the four days I was utterly exhausted, but we sold lots of merchandise (including our T-Shirts with our rearing horse logo)got lots of new contacts, and met lots of interesting people.
For those of you who did see us at the Expo please go to Horse World Expo Feedback and let the Horse World Expo organizers know what you thought of my seminar and demo.

The Paper Horse
Danee has been writing regular articles for The Paper Horse. Keep an eye on future issues. In June, July, and August of 2008 they printed a three part series on the mustang challenge. "The Snobby Rider and the Ignorant Cowboy" graced the pages of the October issue- it tells the story of how my husband and I learned to admire each others style and increase our horsemanship through each other. The November 2008 issue saw the article, "I've Never Tried That...except those first 100 times," about presenting new challenges to your horse with confidence (as if you've done it 100 times) and not assuming somthing will be easy, even if you have done it 100 times! Our first article for 2009 is in the March issue and explains how to break big goals into small achievable steps.

Bridle-less: LIVE on CBS!!!
click on CBS Mustang Adoption Video and CBS Mustang Adoption Video 2
We were on the news bright and early on July 3! So early that I couldn't remember how old my horse is!! (I said five months instead of five years- eek!) Anyway, it was still pretty neat being on TV. I was quite nervous about it being live, but Rave did marvelous!
